Our Story
Levi Foundation was created in loving memory of Levi Ngonde (2016), a devoted son, brother,
and man of faith who lost his life to complications related to sickle cell disease in Kinshasa,
Democratic Republic of Congo.
Levi was known for his unwavering faith and strength. Even during his time in the hospital, he
prayed, sang, and served God wholeheartedly. His life reflected perseverance, humility, and
trust in God until his final breath.
The foundation was established by Levi’s younger sister, who also lives with sickle cell disease. Born in the United States and raised across Africa, Europe, and America, she experienced firsthand how illness, displacement, and loss can shape a childhood. Levi’s Foundation exists to honor Levi’s legacy by advocating for individuals and families affected by sickle cell disease, particularly in underserved communities, as a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit.
